WastePlus Limited is a PET recycling and plastic processing company headquartered in the Kampala Metropolitan area of Uganda. The company is dedicated to tackling plastic pollution through innovative recycling, sustainable manufacturing, waste management, and circular economy solutions.

Founded by Sinan Kitagenda and Daniel Kayemba, WastePlus combines engineering, environmental stewardship, and community empowerment to create scalable recycling systems that process plastic waste into valuable recycled materials and long-life products.

Our Vision
To accelerate the transition towards a circular and green economy where plastic waste is transformed into valuable resources rather than becoming environmental pollution.
Our Mission
WastePlus exists to tackle the plastic pollution crisis through innovative recycling and waste management solutions
Our Story
From Vision to a Movement
Every great change begins with a simple belief—that things can be better.
For Sinan Kitagenda and Daniel Kayemba, that belief was born from witnessing the growing mountains of plastic waste scattered across Ugandan communities. They saw rivers choked with bottles, neighborhoods overwhelmed by unmanaged waste, and countless young people searching for opportunities in places where few existed. What many viewed as a waste problem, they saw as an opportunity to transform lives.
United by a shared passion for environmental stewardship and community empowerment, the two founders asked a simple but powerful question:

What if plastic waste could become a resource instead of a burden?

That question became the foundation of WastePlus.
With more than 20 years of combined experience in ESG, plastic innovation, community mobilization, and social enterprise, Sinan and Daniel understood that solving plastic pollution required more than collecting waste. It demanded a completely different approach—one that placed communities at the center of the solution.
Traditional recycling systems are expensive, centralized, and often inaccessible to the very communities most affected by plastic pollution. Transporting waste over long distances makes recycling costly, leaving much of Uganda's recyclable plastic unmanaged.
WastePlus was created to change that.

The company pioneered a decentralized recycling model that brings recycling directly to communities through innovative Green Pods—Micro Recycling Plants that collect, sort, wash, shred, and remanufacture plastic waste close to where it is generated. This approach not only reduces pollution and transportation costs but also creates green jobs, supports local entrepreneurs, and gives communities ownership of their environmental future.
Today, WastePlus has grown beyond a recycling company into a clean technology and circular economy enterprise. By integrating plastic collection, recycling, machine fabrication, sustainable product manufacturing, environmental education, and corporate sustainability programmes, WastePlus is helping build a future where plastic is never seen as waste, but as a valuable resource.
Every bottle collected, every Green Pod installed, every product manufactured from recycled plastic, and every community empowered brings us one step closer to that future.
Because for us, recycling is about more than protecting the environment—it's about creating opportunities, restoring dignity, strengthening communities, and leaving a cleaner, healthier planet for future generations.
